Established in 1993, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) is committed to improving patient care by securing fair and equitable emergency medicine practice environments. It furthers these efforts through the AAEM Foundation.
The purposes of the AAEM Foundation are twofold. First, it performs a range of academic functions, both studying and educating others on issues related to emergency medical care access and availability. Secondly, it supports both the right of patients to receive emergency care and the right of emergency physicians to provide that care. To protect these rights, the AAEM Foundation may financially support litigation in specific and individual cases.
Contributors can fund the AAEM Foundation at several different levels. All donors receive recognition in the bi-monthly AAEM magazine Common Sense.
